ABOUT BRAZIL  Brazil is South America’s largest country and, at approximately 190 million individuals, its most populous. Brazil constitutes the majority of northeastern South America and is rich in natural resources. Despite its status as South America's leading economic power, distribution of wealth is highly unequal and approximately 30% of Brazilians live below the poverty line. With a growing demand for higher education and less than 10% of its students enrolled in colleges or universities, Brazil is in great need of expanded higher educational opportunities.

The Pathways to Higher Education program in Brazil is working to build the quality and equity of its education system. The program is working to increase access by extending higher education opportunities to the country’s local students. Through Pathways, institutions will provide quality instruction to students to better meet the needs of the growing economy of Brazil.
