Goals
The Pathways to Higher Education program at Jishou University strives to enhance the academic and professional capacity of low-income students by implementing new policies and programs. To achieve this mission, the University’s Pathways program is focused on improving or developing:

  • Counseling and career planning services for Pathways students
  • Pathways student organizations

Target Population
Regional ethnic minorities such as the Tibetans, Mongolians, Hui, Tu, Miao, Man, Zhuang, Yao, Dong and Koreans.

Outcomes
The University’s Pathways program has:

  • Generated tremendous support from the University community, which provides the program with facilities and a 10% financial matching fund
  • Held teacher trainings to improve teaching practices
  • Created the Jian Qiang Club for Pathways students, which currently has 3,825 members and is actively involved in organizing activities in the University
