Goals
The Pathways program at Ningxia Provincial Education Bureau integrates effective teaching methods and develops new institutional programs to enhance disadvantaged students’ academic capacity. To achieve this mission, the Bureau’s Pathways program is focused on improving or developing:
- A new financial aid system to make it easier for Pathways students to obtain stipends
- The curriculum and teaching methods for Ningxia institutions, providing training and resources to develop students’ professional skills and prepare them for the job market
- Pathways promotion to share successful program models with non-Pathways institutions and encourage broader program implementation
Target Population
Low-income students and those living in extreme poverty, with annual household incomes of $270 and below.
Outcomes
Through the Pathways program, Ningxia Province Education Bureau has:
- Improved the financial aid system, making it easier for low-income students to receive loans and other forms of financial aid
- Provided oversight and assistance to participating Pathways institutes, helping them implement the program within their budget and achieve their stated goals
- Received press coverage, introducing successful Pathways programs to a broader audience and sharing Pathways concepts with other educational institutions
