Goals
The Pathways program at Qiannan Normal College for Nationalities strives to enhance low-income and ethnic students’ academic, professional and social abilities. To achieve this mission, the University’s Pathways program has developed a set of curricular offerings and services including:

  • Pathways students’ English language and computer skills
  • Professional and psychological services and resources for students, such as a job hunting guide and counseling
  • Student volunteerism and socially responsible clubs for Pathways students

Target Population
Low-income and ethnic minority students, who respectively comprise 50% and 42% of the University’s student population.

Outcomes
Through the Pathways program, Qiannan Normal College for Nationalities has:

  • Provided students with new courses, such as career planning and Mandarin training
  • Created new, topic-oriented associations, such as the environmental protection club
  • Greatly improved teaching methods, providing 26 teachers with professional training
