Goals
The Pathways program at Yunnan Provincial Educational Bureau partners with Pathways to coordinate and help institutionalize programs, facilitate knowledge-sharing, and enhance governmental policies and procedures to make higher education more accessible for disadvantaged students. To achieve this mission, the Bureau’s Pathways group is focused on improving or developing:
- Pathways academic support centers and programs
- Counseling and mentoring centers to build students’ confidence levels
- Organizations and activities that build students’ professional skills and experience
Target Population
Low-income and ethnic minorities, such as Miaos, Yis, and Dongs
Outcomes
The Pathways group at Yunnan Provincial Educational Bureau has:
- Enhanced knowledge sharing among Pathways institutions, providing nearly 80 teachers training on new teaching methodologies, like instructing groups, student participation, volunteerism, and more.
- Gained policy support from the Yunnan provincial government for a program to organize and instruct Pathways faculty and staff in each university on how to execute the program, helping to institutionalize the program within the region.
