Goals
The Pathways to Higher Education program at Presidency College provided educational opportunities to disadvantaged students. To achieve this mission, the Pathways program at Presidency College Focused on improving or developing:

  • Students’ English communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Tutoring and mentoring programs
  • Special remedial lessons in various disciplines

Target Population
 Presidency College’s Pathways program targeted students from marginalized socio-economic backgrounds, rural areas, religious minority groups, students with physical disabilities, women, as well as first generation learners in the formal education system. 


Outcomes
Between 2004-2009, the Pathways program:

  • Improved students’ English communication skills and basic computer skills
  •  Raised awareness among both students and faculty about social justice, equal opportunity, inclusiveness, and the empowerment of marginalized people
  • Improved students’ academic performance.  The results of internal and University examinations show that the scores of Pathways students have gone up by approximately 10%. No student from a marginalized background has had to leave college.
